Grace was once described to me as this ...
Imagine you are standing on the edge of a cliff, needing to get over the gorge to the other side. It's too far to jump, there's no way around, no way down - except jumping to your certain death - but, your life depends on getting to the other side.
Grace is the swing that appears in front of you. It allows you to climb in and be help closely, safely til you reach the other side - no matter how long it takes. It allows you to rest in the knowledge that regardless of the journey's length or direction, you are safe in the knowledge that you will get to where you need to be. When you need to be there.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 says:
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
